1948 Born in Shanghai，China
1968-1978 Graduated from high school, Qiu worked at a factory
Then he became an art designer at Luwan Cultural Palace
His paintings were selected by countrywide exhibitions
1979 Founder of ”Grass Grass Group”, a group of twelve artists dedicated to promote artistic originality
1982 In adversity, Qiu discovered the “cracks”
Since then he used “fissuring” as his artistic language and philosophic basis
1985-1986 Qiu was invited to be residence artist at Tufts University
Four individual exhibitions were held successfully in United States
He finished a monumental mural in the new building of Campus Center
1986 He returned to China and became a professional artist
1988 Lectured at the John Kong Fairbank Center of the Harvard University, USA
1996 Lectured at the Art Department of University of Arizona, USA
1998 Qiu’s works was selected to be shown on the international conference “After Kyoto: Energy and the Environment in the Asia Pacific Region”
2003 Became the art consultant of “Shanghai Art Village” and “Shanghai Bao Zhen Art Park”
2004 “Qiu Deshu Art Exhibition Room” was opened in Shanghai Hai Shang Shan Art Center
His works was shown on “Art Literature nomination exhibition” and Qiu got “Art Literature Award”
2005 Liu Guosong、Chen Jialin、Qiu Deshu、Chen Jiu and Shang Hui founded “New Water-Ink Art Base” in Shanghai Zhu QiZhan Art Museum and Shanghai Duolun Museum Of Modern Art
2006 As a world-famous artist, Qiu was invited to “International Contemporary Chinese Water-Ink Exhibition” at Asian Cultural Center Gallery
This Exhibition was held by Crystal Foundation
2006 Qiu joined “Shanghai Art Classroom” project as a volunteer artist
2007 Fissuring -- the new works of Qiu Deshu
